PHILIP ROTH SUCKS...

I read THE BREAST and half of THE HUMAN STAIN. They both sucked more than I could have imagined. THE BREAST was ridiculous and unfunny. It seemed like a book conceived by a really really boring 10 year old. This is the kind of thing only the New York Times Books Review would find funny or worth reading.

"The Breast is terrific...inventive and sane and very funny. The trick which is the heart of the book is brilliant...and rich with meaning." —John Gardner, The New York Times Book Review

THE HUMAN STAIN just drug along like pulling pubic hairs. I quit reading it. Honestly, I thought to myself "i am wasting my life reading this book."

Does this mean old people can't write? No. But they should be careful...

PHILIP (too good for two l's) ROTH SUCKS. Stay away from him. He'll probably be dead soon and kids will have to read him in high school. Sucks...

FUCK THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW.

end post.

  2. HMMM...Def. Fuck the New York Times Book Review...they should be ashamed to even call it that, but I will humbly disagree with you about Roth...The Human Stain was a tremendous book for me...but it was also a transitional book for me (as it was for Roth)...His real power is in Sabbath's Theater, Operation Shylock, and Portonoy's Complaint. But it is not like you are slapping down Robert Coover, so I guess if you have given up on him then let it be so...

  3. Wow. You are a complete moron. Nothing you achieve in your life will be remotely as important as Roth's contribution to the letters. Just because you can maintain a blog doesn't mean you should. The problem with blogs is intellectually impotent people are given an outlet. Take your third grade drawings on Philip Roth's photo and return them to the bathroom stall.

  4. Two years after you posted this it is as stupid as ever. If you could write half as well as Roth you'd be a success. I guess you're not even close.

  6. I think Phillip Roth sucks too.I read American Pastoral and since it was a Pulitzer Prize Winner...I must be missing something cause this book really sucks...so I gave it to my daughter to read but, didn't tell her I hated it.
My daughter is the most well read person I know. After she read it she said mom why did you give me that book to read? I told her that since it was a Pulitzer Prize book I thought it must have something going for it I'm.missing.
She's still pissed about it...I never bring it up. She does when she is telling someone about the worse book she ever read.

    1. This is a totally true story and this woman, my mother, actually did this to me. American Pastoral was one of the worst books I have ever laid eyes on, and since my mom gave it to me and also because it was a pulitzer prize winning book, I read it through to the end...expecting the ending to be so good that it would be worth the torturous read. It completely was not worth it. I must say it was a good learning experience. Now I know to trust myself and put a book down before I am finished with it if it is a flaming piece of crap. Thank you mom, and Philip Roth, for teaching me to trust and respect my instincts and intelligence. (I will never ever read another Philip Roth book no matter who recommends it!)
